To achieve Thailand's Net Zero Goal and adapt to the current climate crisis, Thailand needs a network of changemakers working both on the ground level and policy level. SDSN in collaboration with NXPO invite you to the side meeting "Collaborative actions  towards Thailand Net Zero driven by University Network" to explore the possibilities of university network as sources of knowledge and manpower to tackle the climate problems and how national policy can link to the network to scale up the current activities

Objectives

  • Discuss the important roles and functions of the university network as sources of knowledge and manpower and how the network can lead and support action driving sustainable solutions on issues:
    • Net Zero Emission
    • Innovation and Technologies Development driving Net Zero Emission
    • Service Provider and climate action
  • To share and discuss the latest activities and lessons learned from university networks around the world contributing to the Net Zero emission goal
  • To discuss how countries can leverage the university network and how to further strengthen the university network for wider activities
  • To establish a framework for Thailand's university network platform to support Thailand's Net Zero Emission goal

Agenda

09.00 – 09.30        Opening Remarks & Keynote Speakers (30 mins)

  • Sustainable University Network Thailand (SUN): Past experiences and future direction on driving solutions to Net Zero. (7 mins)
    • This session will explore experiences from SUN Thailand on driving solutions to climate change or environmental problems either inside universities or outside. Also, explore the future direction and vision on how network can be strengthened for wider impact. (Or other relevant topics as speaker see fit)
    • Speaker: Assoc. Prof. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Ph.D.
  • SDSN Thailand: Driving SDG from Academic side (7 mins)
    • Speaker Prof. Dr. Surichai Wun'Gaeo, Director, Center for Peace and Conflict Studies, Chulalongkorn University
  • STI policies and university network: synergies to solve nationwide problems (TBC) (7 mins)
    • This session will explore related national policies that can be linked to the network activities and potential collaborative activities to solve pressing environmental problems in Thailand.
    • Speaker: Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat, Assistant to the president, NXPO

09.30 – 12.30       Policy Design Workshop- How university network can drive solution for Thailand Net Zero (180 mins)

  • This session will explore, through policy design process, the pressing problems on climate change, Thailand ecosystems driving current solutions, and gaps that university network can play vital roles. Also, the interaction on STI policy and network will be discussed as well. The result from this session will be summarized as proceeding for SUN to use as the network see fit.
