The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for everyone and the planet now and into the future. It is a global commitment by all UN Member States, adopted by the United Nations in 2015. The SDGs are aimed at everyone: policymakers, civil society, business, academia and each and every individual, and has to be implemented by everyone. Therefore, it is crucial that everyone needs to be aware that they are part of the SDGs, and the targets belong to them.
Although if we know the SDGs in appearance, we may not have a deep understanding of why we need to work on them. To implement the SDGs, it requires people to understand the impact of their actions and the interlinkage of one goal and other goals by exploring their learning experiences. People need to have first-hand experience of what they do and realise the impacts, then the learning experience becomes more real.
In the PMAC side meeting, SDG Game* will be applied to give a direct experience of participating in co-creating a sustainable world. It will bring people to get a real experience of how the economy, society, and environment are involved. By learning about the extremely complex issues and problems that the world is facing, it helps people to begin to understand, and aware while inspiring and motivating players to take action in the real world.
To achieve SDGs, more collaboration across the generations is essential. In the workshop, people from different generations can explore and share their different perspectives and experiences. Experienced leaders must provide space for and empower the next generation through the inter-generational learning and collaboration for achieving the SDGs.

What is the 2030 SDGs game?
The 2030 SDGs Game is a multiplayer, in-person, card-based game that simulates taking the “real world” into the year 2030.
Designed in Japan in 2016, this experience has become a powerful and impactful social phenomenon, earning extensive media coverage and reaching over 300,000 participants. 2030 SDGs Game events are held in corporate, governmental, educational, and community settings. We now have over 1,000 certified facilitators in Japan and around 100 globally.
Now, due to a growing demand to bring the game to the rest of the world, we have created an English edition and are beginning to introduce it to a wider audience overseas.
The game is designed to be played with anywhere from 5 to 50 players. (That number can be expanded to a maximum of around 200 with multiple parallel ‘worlds’ operating at the same time.)
